Reverend is the brainchild of Joe Naylor, a tireless tone fanatic with years of design, repair, and vintage experience. A 1987 graduate of Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery, Joe states, "Our mission is to produce affordable pro-quality instruments with character, that offer performance which will satisfy the most discriminating players."
Founded in 1996, Reverend is a small company residing in the Detroit area. Prior to Reverend, Joe owned J.F. Naylor Engineering, one of the forerunners in boutique tube amps and vintage style speakers.
What parts of your business do you handle personally?
I am the company owner, and oversee all product design and marketing.
What is your biggest obstacle everyday with your business?
Keeping the costs down, quality high... and the trains running on time.
What are your goals for the next 5 years?
Launch the import guitar line, open more dealers, triple the size of the company.
Do you sell only direct or through dealers?
Direct and through exclusive dealers.
Coolest person you have met through your business?
Rick Vito is probably the coolest. The most famous... Kid Rock, Billy Corgan, Iggy Pop, Brad Whitford.
Any new products on the horizon?
Import guitars, some new amps.

What do you do different than the rest of the folks out there?
USA made, low-production guitars for under $1000. Boutique-sounding tube amps starting under $600.
What are your thoughts on the state of the business and where do you see it headed?
Modern-retro still rules... take the past and improve it. Single-channel amps and pedals are making a huge comeback.
