Diamond guitar pedals
Fireburst
From Diamond

Thick saturated fuzz with amazing amounts of low-end - the Fireburst.
To add to its utility, we put in a unique, footswitchable mid-boost eq
and pre/post gain circuit that snaps the fuzz into focus and
turns the Fireburst into a tightly focused distortion pedal.
The fuzz and distortion gain and mid-boost eq circuits are all discrete
component, while we use an audiophile grade opamp for an active
Baxandall bass/treble control. The bass and treble controls act
independently at extended frequency extremes (<150 Hz and > 3 kHz),
allowing for some very interesting post-distortion tonal shaping.

First impressions do mean alot and at first glance the Fireburst is a stunning pedal to look at. Pro all the way and there is a reason they say everything is better in red. Professional packing and manual are also part of the deal.

When we first plugged in we honestly had not done alot of research on the Fireburst. We knew the guys from Diamond and just assumed it was a great pedal. I was assuming and rightly so that the second footswitch was a volume boost like every other dual stomp pedal we have played. Not the case here! Hmmmm what is a mid boost i wonder? More on that later.

Now for the fuzz. If you are looking for thick fat fuzz this could be right up your alley. Now most times when folks say thick fat fuzz alot of folks think of the Big Muff. Never being a fan of the Big Muff fuzz personally I just dont  care for the mega compressed dark fuzz. The fuzz character of the Fireburst adds a complexity and grit to a standard fuzz tone that sounds great! Very thick and fat but not a super dark nasal tone that i associate with the Big Muff style of fuzzes. As with many fuzzes you can back off the volume for added dynamics, lower gain, and clarity and it retains its base tone and does not thin out. The Fuzz character almost ventures into heavy distortion land but retains a base tone that is very familiar to the ear.<Jimi, Trower>  A nice mix of Fuzz and Distortion that is very useful and also very tweakable with the EQ at hand.

Ok now that we have given the Fuzz a go and are very pleased with the results but its time to investigate that mid boost. Ok im getting ready for mega fuzz meltdown. When i hear boost I am thinking that this is going to be a boosted version of what we heard before. WRONGO! It adds a a serious midrange boost that makes it a killer overdrive at the stomp of the mid boost. This is very impressive! I have yet to see or hear this feature so effective in any another pedal. It completely changes the character of the drive and gives you a second completely different killer tone!
Now you might be thinking" hmmm mid boost, it probably sounds like a mid heavy TS9 variant". So did we and we were wrong. Remember, what you are boosting is a complex fuzz and is by nature a darker tone. The Mid boost is a drastic change<in a very good way!> but not as mid heavy as a TS9 pedal. With the mids boosted you have a very nice overdrive with gain to spare. This pedal can VERY easily replace your fuzz and your overdrive on your pedalboard in one compact easy to use pedal.

The Fireburst is the first pedal that we have come across that gets 2 distinct killer tones in one package with very minimal tweaking. Sometimes in a dual purpose pedal both features dont always dazzle. In this case we feel Diamond has a real winner on its hands. The folks at Diamond have told us about some new exciting things coming soon and if the performance of the Fireburst is any indication we have alot to look foward to!
