Musician Sound Design SM-2 SilverMachine wah
With its 1.7kg weight and its low-profile stainless steel housing, the Silver Machine sits firmly on the ground and is highly resistant to unwanted movement as well as being comfortable for the musician to use. The unique Automagic sensor activates the effect as soon as a foot is laid upon the pedal. This allows it to rapidly bring the effect into play without any additional pressing of footswitches. The wide and carefully chosen angle over which the pedal operates guarantees precise control over the sound and the effect, and a newly-developed ultra-low-noise circuit means that switching is practically noiseless. The filter itself also displays extremely low noise characteristics and makes the device ideal for studio use.
Three function selectors vary the filter circuitry directly and offer a host of sound variations:- hot, funky sounds, biting heavy riffs and out-of-this-world Space effects. The Earth and Quake selectors can be used in combination to produce a total of 12 sound configurations. The Earth selector switches between three different frequency ranges and the Quake knob is responsible for the "Q-Factor" - altering the band width of the filter. The footswitch lets you change instantaneously between Modern and Classic modes, where "Classic" represents the familiar wah-wah effect while "Modern" supplies the opportunity to create new and subtle variations by mixing the effect signal with the original input. The mode is indicated by means of the LED. For the Modern mode a trimming potentiometer on the circuit board governs the mix between the original and effects signals. The effect level can similarly be adjusted to suit the equipment with which the Silver Machine is used.

The Led on the fascia indicates both the operating status and the effects made (the LED is lit when the effect is in operation). The power consumption is very economical. A good 9-Volt battery lasts for more than 100 hours of use. This makes the use of a transfomer unnecessary.

Handmade one at a time in Germany, the SM-2 SilverMachine from Musician Sound Design knocked our socks off. When they say the casing is bullet-proof its not an exageration. Although MSD did deny our request to test it with firearms<yes folks that was a joke>. It is dead solid stainless steel that looks ready for a lifetime of road abuse.

Sometimes the way a wah "feels" underfoot is overlooked. Its low profile, wide stance never feels like it could slide. Great easy to move throw underfoot makes for a comfortable wah experience. The SM - 2 just feels right.

Godlyke dist.was kind enough to send us a SM-2 unit to check out and we couldnt get enough. Ill say without hesitation it is the most versatile , noise free wah we have had the pleasure of using. The tonal options on this wah are endless. Sell your wah collection while you still can, this one will kill several birds<wahs> with one stone.
A feature exclusive to the SM -2 is not only being pressure activated but can be switched to always on for the player that prefers to have his or her wah constantly on.

At a street price of around 275.00 it is right in there price wise with other wahs that only do one or 2 wah tones and frankly have the clunky click to activate switch.

The hassle free switchless system used on the SM-2 is worth the price of admission alone but when you factor in the tonal options and build quality on the SM-2 it is a wah worthy of the title "King wah".
